Having problems with your Toshiba PC Desktops ?

My laptop, toshiba satellite, suddenly shuts down. It is about 2 years old.

Hi Annes26's
\015\012I’ve had the same problem since the very first moments I bought this weird "thing"; I sent it to fix under guarantee for twice; the problem persisted and ended up with no solution; Then they gave me a brand new Satellite Pro A40, but the thing has also happened in the new machine after a while; the only solution was to lose all my stuff because the XP Pro software disk is not a “real thing”, it is a kind of OEM "XP Pro for Toshiba" and there is no option to reinstall Windows keeping your software and data (how stupid!!!) and so did I carried out the clean install; This solved the problem. I cared about keeping the fans & heat sinks clear as suggested by the previous guest (I actually made a stand to keep it 2 inches high!) and put an external fan fully dedicated on blowing beneath my laptop. Very bizarre…lol… for nothing. It keeps happening: 1) overheats; 2) the funs go crazy and … 3) kaput!
\015\012The only solution that has worked to me so far was set the TOSHIBA POWER SAVER PROPERTIES with this configuration:
\015\012Profile: Normal
\015\012CPU control method: fixed
\015\012CPU processing speed: level 2 (out of the 4 levels, i.e. 50%) (Sorry, that’s Toshiba)
\015\012Cooling method: 50% performance.
\015\012It looks like anything above this setting sucks most of the 3 GHz for running the system itself (???), not to be used by the user.
\015\012
\015\012And all this is very sad. A sluggish 3 GHz machine (not talking about my self-destructive keyboard and unreliable cd-rom (it decides in its own whether wants to work or not), the “not responding” reaction to my right-clicks and similar claims from other people I’ve seen on the net. Do any of these also happen to you?
\015\012.
\015\012Toshiba is enough for me. And enough is enough.
\015\012
\015\012Good luck

Try blowing the fans and heat sinks clear, could be full off fluff and dust if tosh's get hot they shut down

I own a Toshiba Satellite laptop (A135-S4427) running Windows Vista. The laptop has worked well for over one year, but has recently shut off without prompting. When I attempt to restart, it will either reboot, get to the desktop, and then shut down again; or will not start up at all and the power light will blink a series of colors (blue, pink, then amber). I've removed the battery and tried to run the laptop off the power cable alone, but nothing changes from above. I've reseated the RAM. Again
