The easiest thing to do is to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card and put it into an empty slot inside of your computer.

The only way to really deal with this problem is by updating your motherboards drivers. One of them will be for the usb ports.

You have two options one you can open the side panel ( while the pc is unplugged ) and look on the motherboard on it should be printed the make and model number. Typically will be bigger letters than any other writing on it. Post that and I will find you the link to the newest drivers for it.

Second would be to use a program such as driver detective that will find the latest updates for any peice of your computers hardware (actually a great program to keep your PC up to date). It is not free and the trial only lets you see what drivers are out of date.
There is another program called radarsync that is essentially the same but does not have a comprehensive database compared to driver detective. CLICK HERE FOR RADARSYNC

If radarsync does not find updates for your usb ports and you don't wish to purchase driver detective then post back the make and model of your motherboard for further help.
