Having problems with your Logitech Z-5500 Computer Speakers ?

Problem with right rear speaker outlet

\015 Hello\015\012\015\012I've got my eye on a second hand set of Z5500 speakers which are going cheap due to a fault described as\015\012\015\012"right rear speaker outlet is noisy and makes a popping sound sometimes"\015\012\015\012I understand all of the speakers are fine and the problem is wth the subwwofer. Is this the sort of thing that could prove costly or complicated to repair. Don't want to waste money if the repair is impossible/ impractical.\015\012\015\012Thanks\015

Answers :

These are fairly pricy speakers and I would hesitate before recommending you buy them UNLESS they are dirt cheap, like $40 or less.\015\012\015\012Odds are good that the issue is related to mechanical wear like defective wiring, a jack, where the cable connects to the speakers or even a worn volume switch. The problem is that if it winds up being a defective amplifier or volume switch then your deal becomes less of one. Replacing a volume switch isn?t too hard but finding a suitable part and installing is will take some time. If that isn?t the problem then you?re left with the built-in amplifier which is not typically repairable by the average home user. \015\012\015\012Hope that helps.
