Having problems with your HP PC Desktops ?

Hello. I have an HP a6645 about 6 months old. I fitted a set of speakers which went phut. Since fitting new speakers I get no sound but the Volume mixer indicates sound is appearing. I am told the bios is wrong. can you help please? thanks roger lines

Answers :

The bio's setting would not effect the sound setting, however there is a i/o sound board specifically for the motherboard when there is a on board speaker it is for the motherboard that sends warnings for the psu "power supply unit", default warnings and, other misc uses. this issue your having is has to with the sound card, with the drivers producing sound, first suggestion double check the 2.5mm plug to see if it is fitted into the correct plug, if it is. then check the sound card. second test the sound card listed in the hardware settings, there should be also issues stated in the hardware settings, it could be the driver out of date, third replace the sound card. with a new one the way the manufacture suggestions on how to add the new sound card alotted, reassemble the case, turn the pc back on, install the drivers for it. then you should be set, this is a basic trouble shooting process, for the sound.
