\015 I have a Gateway monitor (FDP1965) that is not powering on properly and/or staying powered on. Once the power cord is plugged in, regardless as to whether or not the video cable is attached, the blue power light will come on for approx 2 seconds, then go off for a fraction of a second, then come on again for a fraction of a second, then go off and I have no power to the monitor. If I then unplug the power cord and plug it back in, I get nothing. If however, I wait for a few minutes, or hit the power button without the monitor plugged in a couple of times and then plug it back into power - the above described scenario will reoccur consistently.I have checked the capacitors on the power supply and they seem okay (no visible signs of problems and a multimeter test seems to indicate they are charging; although I can't really determine leakage accurately this way).I then decided to try and isolate the internal components and found out that if I disconnect the video cable that goes from the internal LCD display to the video controller(or at least what I assume is the video controller as it's the only other card in the monitor) - the monitor will power on, stay on, and actually go into standby mode appropriately based on whether or not I have a video cable attaching it to a PC. In this state I get proper backlighting as well on the LCD; but I obviously don't get an actual video signal to the LCD. But if I reconnect the internal cable from the LCD to the video controller, the monitor shuts down.Any ideas on what I can test next? Caps on the video controller look to be okay as well... Short of trying to find a replacement video controller, any other ideas on troubleshooting this beast? The monitor had been stored for a couple of years and it did work for the first couple of times I used it - then it died.Thanks!\015
