My sound stopped working and it says i have no sound device

First thing you'll need to check is the speakers,
If you're using an external speakers try to unplug it and plug it back again,
If that doesn't work get the latest driver from the dell support website,
make sure you download the one for your system and OS, install it,
if that driver update still does not work and says the same thing,
go to the properties of your sound then take a look if the sound is grayed out if not then you can try to adjust the volume, if it is, go to device manager and see if the sound card driver is detected, if it is then you'll need to try to re seat the sound card if it is not integrated, if it is integrated the best way to check if it is a hardware issue is access the diagnostics, custom diagnostics that under boot menu in f12, with or without the sound card it will make a sound if you test it, if you were able to test it and it made a sound then that's a OS issue, conflict between your sound driver and the OS, it may lead to reinstalling the os but I'm sure you can fix the problem, but if in the diagnostics you were not able to hear any sound while running the custom test on audio,
Then that means a part replacement. If it is integrated sound card then the motherboard needs replacement if not the the sound card.
