Having problems with your Dell OptiPlex 360 Desktop Computer ?

After installing a modem driver in my Dell Optiplex360 XP, it detect the modem and when i try to access the modem through device manager or uninstall from control panel the system hault. and a message like "if this is the first time of seeing this plz contact system admin." I need help to correct this problem.

Answers :

Did you download the driver from the DELL site?
If you use your resource CD, it will detect the hardware in your system correctly.

Start the system in safe mode (F8 at startup
Go to Device Manager (Control panel, device manager)
Remove the modem from the list
Now insert the resource CD and after it loads, it will pout check marks next to each item that is found in your system
Select the modem and install the driver.

If you do not have the resource cd
Boot to safe mode
Start the device manager
Remove the modem
Install the driver from the dell website
Reboot

If these do not work, the modem may be at fault.
If it is the modem that came with the machine, it could be going bad.
If it is new or different modem, it probably is incompatible with your system.
