\015 Ok, ive read all of the problems and possible solutions posted. and i will try them. only problen is a bit different. yes my screen is going blank like these others only when it goes blank it doesnt go black. it turns into stripes. different color and patternes of stripes each time. it may be ram like one person posted. and maybe the batterything will help me too. but maybe my problem is different. thats why i wanted to post it to see if there were any other possible solutions. please help.\015
You'll notice that the screen comes back to life if you pressdown on the very top of the green line. This is because a controllercircuit board behind the LCD screen (at the top) is pressure fitflat-surface-to-flat surface to the contacts on the back of the LCD.Eventually, the sticky substance that holds this circuit board in placewears thin, collects dust, etc.. and the connection between the circuitboard and the lcd contact is lost. The line appears where this break incontact has occured.
So, the solution is to increase the pressure at that point to reestablish the connection.
simply removed the LCD and put a bunch of tape at that point sothat it would "push" with a little more pressure when screwed back intoplace.
To remove the LCD, pull off the 6 feet around the screen. Removethe screws behind them. Carefully pry off bezel with a small flatheadscrewdriver working your way around it. Once removed there are simply 4screws on the left and 4 more on the right of the LCD to remove. Pullout screen carefully and start stacking bits of tape on the spot wherepressure seems to work best. Put it back in and see if you've made anydifference. I did this with the computer on so I could verify myresults. Just be careful not to short out any naked contacts.

the company is willing to replace the screen as they have a faulty LCD panel shipped during manufacturing...
one of the dell employees himself has acknowledged it.... call customer service number and talk
they wont argue with such generic problems...

I'd say the cable referenced in step 7 is the likely culprit if theissue is indeed cable related. That same cable also connects to therear of the LCD panel and you could try reseating it as well, but it'sa pain to get to and takes about twice as long.
I'd also suggest checking the cable where it basses in to themonitor bezel near the hinge as it could have developed in to a pinchpoint.
If you see no damage to the cable and re-seating doesn't help thesituation the LCD could be the issue. I only suggest that the cablecould be the issue because most peple with the LCD related verticalline issue can do nothing to make it go away. In your case it wasaffected by physical movement which usually indicated a cable issue. Ifound this when initially researching the issue.
