I have Dell Inspiron 1521 that is 2 years old (although it has only been used about 8 months total). I got an error about it not recognizing my ac adapter (the original ac adapter from Dell that it came with) & the battery wouldn't charge. Now the battery is dead. The light on the ac adapter is green even when plugged into the laptop. When ac is plugged in to the laptop the battery icon flashes blue. When I power the laptop up, the battery icon flashes red and I get the low battery warning.

There are several possibilities. 1st and most probable is that the power module has failed, and by that it could have a wire broken in the part from the brick to the computer. It will then give just enough power to let the computer see it, but when i ... Dell Inspiron E1705 Notebook

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 that will not power up. A fully charged battery will power up the laptop, but the battery will not charge in the pc. I ordered a new power adapter and the same result. When I pull the battery out and try to boot up without it as the dell site suggested I do not get any lights on the power icons. Power, Cntr Power, FN Power, and wifi slide switch have no result. What else could fail in the charging and power system?

This is a common problem and most often it is the DC jack in the back where you plug in the power supply. Does moving the plug in the jack make any diffrence? Dell motherboards have issues with bad solder joints at the DC jack. I also see people trip ... Dell Inspiron 1721 Notebook

Dc jack broke. tech guy replaced but now none of my 3 power bricks will charge the battery. they all give power to run laptop but do not charge battery. when boot up get error message saying I connected an unrecognized power device (or something like that). Is it possible there are different DC jacks for these laptops which may have changed with different dates of manufacture? My other laptop is a Dell Vostro and unbelievably that power brick will charge my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. That is wha

It is possible that it could be a bad solder joint.\015\012It could also be that the connector is a different one.\015\012Some laptops use a dual voltage power structure.\015\012On the Inspiron E1505 (same as the 6400) I have it requires the dual vol ... Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook

E1505 hi, i'm having the same problem that you had, with the orange light flashing and then the green light flashing once, and the battery will not charge whether or not the comp is off/on... my comp will not even turn on if i don't have it plugged in. did you ever find a viable solution for this?? thanks.

Start by checking the power supply with an ohm meter for the proper output. Anything higher or low than one volt means the supply is faulty and will need replaced. This could also be a battery issue, if a fail safe in the battery has engaged. Try rem ... Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

My Dell Dimension 3100 will not boot up after I had opened the side cover to clean the interior of dirt using a brush and a vacuum cleaner. The only light I get now is an amber light on the ON/OFF button which would normally turn green on successful boot up.

My Dell Inspiron 1200 will not run on ac power supply. It drains the battery and this is when it is plugged into the power. I have it set to desktop scheme as I always use it inside the home and have it plugged in. I can not find a way to set it to always use ac power. any suggestions. I have ordered a new power adapter to see if that could be as issue. I haven't received it as yet.

I've had a similar issue and believe the problem could be one of two things. 1.) Your power supply, so you may want to disconnect and reconnect (very firmly) the powersupply to the computer, wall, and inbetween if you have two cord device. Also you ... PC Laptops

Have a Dell XPS 200. Computer was on overnight when our power went out and then came back on. It was plugged into a power strip with surge protector. Now it will not turn on, no power, no lights, no fan comes on. It's just dead. Unplugged it, plugged directly into wall, turned the switch on the back of & on. NOTHING. What could cause this? Power supply, mobo? Could the bios battery cause this? Thanks!

Most probably, the fuse in the power supply has been burnt out when the power came back. Surge protectors only protect against voltage surges, not against rise in electric current (Amperes). The fuse inside your computer's power supply protects again ... PC Desktops
