Having problems with your Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop ?

Dell dimension 5100 won't start up. It's about 5 years old. Opened case, no mb light, no lights on front. suspected PSU went bad again. Had it checked and indeed it was. Replaced it this evening, but still won't power up. Has green light on mb now, but still no front lights and no response from switch. Removed all cords, memory, cards and replaced. Checked all connections. Still nothing. Fan on PSU doesn't come on, CPU fan not running. No response from switch or LED lights on the front. What so

While it is possible you received a DOA power supply, it is also possible the last power supply failure carried the MB along with it. Since you are getting a green light on the MB, I would suspect the power activation circuit on the motherboard. The green light on the motherboard only checks one of the five voltages the power supply has to provide assuming that if you have one good voltage, they are all good. You probably already know this, but the five voltages that are necessary are, +5 VDC, +12 VDC, +3.3 VDC, -5 VDC, and -12 VDC. I'm not sure which of the these the green LED checks (probably one of the 5 VDC lines).

\015\012There is 2 things you need to check make sure that the replacement powersupply's wattage is not less than a 350 watt powersupply. Note if you added hardware to the system then you may need a bigger powersupply.
\015\012
\015\012The other thing to check is the P4 connector. Most likely you missed it. It is a common thing that gets missed. Also on this system it is in a weird place. See the picture below, I circled the connector.

I recently moved my computer into my new condo and have not been able to use it since. The problem seems to be with the monitor. The last time I moved my computer from one room to another, the monitor suddenly couldn't/wouldn't display colors accruately - no red. Attempt to adjust the color by using the monitor's controls we
