I just bought a refurbished asus bp003 c2q q8300 from Comp USA, when I connect the PC to the monitor via the HDMI cable the monitor does not go in the HDMI mode instead goes to the VGA mode. What is it that I am doing wrong.

You might try going into the computer's BIOS / Setup and set the video settings there. I'm not familiar with Asus, but it should tell you upon boot-up which key to press to get into Setup. That's assuming this model can handle HDMI. ... ASUS Computer Monitors
