Having problems with your Altec Lansing MX5020 Computer Speakers ?

MX5020 Noisy When I turn the volume knob, it makes terrible scretching noises, specially at low volume. I tried to open the speaker to possibly clean something inside, but after removing the 4 screws at the back, I still can't open the speaker. What to do ? (thoses noises are so bad, I can only recommand not to buy those speakers)

Answers :

Try to blow it out with compressed air.\015\012Then, with the speakers turned off, turn the volume knob to full volume and back as quickly as you can (without damaging the switch) three or four times. This should take about one second for three movements.\015\012\015\012Undertake this at your own risk.\015\012\015\012Turn them on and see if it has helped.\015\012Do not just keep doing this. if it doesn't help immediately stop. if it does help, repeat blowing out and repeat the knob turning, once.
