\015 Hello,I had my 1.5year old acer aspire 5920 laptop in for repairs because the adapter jack had to be replaced, and the repair shop removed my HD and put it into a case which can be used to access my HD on other computers using a USB with two port connectors-so that I could access my files while my laptop was being repaired. When I got the laptop back, I replaced the HD and powered on, the power on light was blue and the laptop rebooted fine, and so I shut down normally to let the pretty-much-empty battery charge. A few hours later, with battery charged, I pressed the power on button which now was orange and not the usual and normal blue-and the acer logo came up, but before anything else could happen the dreaded blue screen came up saying your computer is shutting down to prevent damage, etc. and went into an automatic restart which then prompted me to ''system repair''. Now clicking on system repair asked me to choose my keyboard language and then to choose the HD partition from this list-there was nothing in the list-and below it said if the list is empty click on load drivers-when I clicked on that it brought up insert installation disc. I don't have an installation disc as these computers have inbuilt e-recovery systems which deal with formatting and such. I do have back up dvds for formatting to factory default and drivers-but when I inserted the drivers dvd nothing happened and it just opened another window that said (windows?) system 32 with a whole bunch of folders in it. So I closed that because I didn't know what to do, and then it just went to a list saying system repair, system recovery etc. and restart or shut down. Each time I power on this same process keeps happening and windows won't start. It keeps going to the blue screen where the system crashes and then asks for system repair upon start up and I don't know how to progress through the system repair. I did take the HD out again and put it back in the case and checked to see if I could access it on another computer. My HD is partitioned with the C drive containing all documents, pictures and music and the D drive mostly empty except for some saved movies and shows. When plugged into another PC D drive opens but it will not open and asks to format the C drive-which I am afraid to do in case I lose my operating system entirely. Any advice and /or help would be greatly appreciated.\015
\015\012IF it doesn't, or you can't access safe mode..Well you WILL have to get a copy of the Operating System, I'd guess Vista? or XP, whatever... now you will have to boot on that DVD, set BIOS to "Boot from DVD" then go through untill it asks if you want to repair startup issues say yes and let it run, that should fix it.\015\012
\015\012IF not, then you are simply going to have to "Bite the Bullet" and do a reinstall of your OS using that same DVD boot on it again and do an install to the SAME folder as it is in now, that should fix it.\015\012
\015\012Boy what a pickle, that Ahem "Repair Shop" didn't do you any favors me thinks, anyway If you were my client.. well suffice to say... you wouldn't be having this problem at all.\015\012
\015\012What has happened is you have had setting changed when you hooked up to USB, this is NOT a move you should have been told to do. The result is why.
