Having problems with your Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook ?

When I plug in the AC adpater, the power light comes on orange, but when I press the power button, the light goes off and the system does not start. The AC adapter is good I tested it on a multi meter and also tried it with a different system. It doesn't seem like either a motherboard problem or a DC jack problem.

Sometimes it's the battery which is at fault, try taking the battery out and boot the laptop on AC power only.
If it boots then turn the laptop off and reinsert the battery to see if it boots up.
If it does then all is fine, if not the battery is at fault.

Sony VAIO VGN-FZ410E does not boot up. On power the laptop seems to go through normal sequence but the display remain white. The unit stays on with no display and reboots after several minutes. CTRL-Alt-Del sequence causes the laptop to attempt to re-boot but with no display. Putting a bootable cd in the drive shows a similar behaviou ie. nod display (screen reamins white).
