This may help...SIMPLE ! The "shadowing" you talk about is due to cables in back of your computer, touching or too close together. I had this happen to mine. I moved the cables apart, and no more shadows !! Sounds too easy, but it works. Takes a few seconds. Immediate results.

Router problem. Time Warner had a internet problem last Sunday, April 26 here in the Northeast. They fixed it, but our internet still didn't function properly as it did before the TWC problem.
