Dell Latitude C610 battery claims its too hot to charge....

\015 The charging Adapters are perfectly functional, and the laptop was previously turning on, but now when i go to charge it the L.E.D light for charging flashes orange, orange green, this according to the handbook suggests that the battery is to hot to charge, so i allow it too cool down and yet 16 hours later the battery is still telling the computer its too hot to charge. I don' think the connection to the laptops faulty, as on the dash board the lights for capss lock, num lock etc or flash on then stay on for four secs, then turn off, any ideas?\015

The charge light flashing orange-orange-orange-green....-orange-orange-orange-green.... usually means the battery has reached the end of its life and now it needs replacing.

\015\012There are three ways to test your battery:
\015\012
\015\012 1) If the battery has a button on the bottom of it and a row of 5 leds, then push AND HOLD the button for 5 seconds. The LEDs should all turn OFF, then turn back on showing a pattern. If all five LEDs turn on, the battery is dead.
\015\012
\015\012 2) Open the Dell Quickset application (doubleclick it in system tray), go to Battery Meter, go to the battery health tab, and pick your battery. It should tell you there if the battery is healthy or not.
\015\012
\015\012 3) Reboot your computer and go into the bios. Pick the Battery tab in the bios. It will list the battery health there.
I have a Dell D600 and started getting the orange, orange, orange, green flash yesterday. Though the laptop still would run on the battery....not very long. I turned off all power management and drained the battery until it could no longer run the computer. I immediately removed it and threw it in the freezer for a few hours. When I pulled it out of the freezer I immediately installed it back in the computer and plugged it in to charge. No green charge light at first...I imagine since the battery was frozen. Eventually the light turned on, green only, and the battery started taking a charge. It took about 5 hours for it to complete and I did not run my machine at all during this time. End result...battery is working as good as new, battery meter claims 3:36 life at 100% charge and maximum battery selected with QuickSet. I'm not saying this will work for everyone but it has for me, at least for now.
