I don't know about your particular laptop. I had this problem with my Tecra M1. Every time it boots, it asks for a password in the upper left corner. I put in, without quotes,"12345" and presses enter. This is a valid code on mine. If this is what yours is doing, try it. It just may work. Your discription "locked out" can mean a lot of things. You may want to be more specific.

When I turn on my toshiba satellite laptop it displays the toshiba screen as it normally would, followed by screen with black and white progress bar at bottom but freezes at about 1/4 the way. So my only option is to restart. Then I tried doing the F8 thing to get to the startup screens with all the configuration settings. I can't get any farther than this. I tried using an xp boot disc I downloaded off the internet and this also gets me nowhere? Any suggestions?
