Having problems with your PC Laptops ?

Notebook smells like burning plastic.

\015 All of a sudden one day the notebook started to run on the battery while it was plugged in. At the same time it started to smell like burning plastic, but no smoke. I shut it down as quick as I could. The next day i started it up but it was once again running on the battery, and the battery was not getting charged. Everytime I plugged it into the outlet it made that smell. I bought a Targus AC70U, thinking it was the stock power cord, but the notebook still smells with the Targus. The new Targus doesn't charge the battery either. Any solutions?\015\012I've got a Packard Bell Easynote MX45.My adaptor broke so I bought a universal adaptor, but while I was using it, the removable charger head came loose, so I plugged it in again. It started to smell like it was burning and hasnt worked since. I sit the charger or the laptop\015

Cud be your onboard voltage regulator for the battery charging. if you remove the battery and use the external power source does it smell also?
\015\012if the battery charges normal out of the unit, and the laptop works well with the AC power unit without the battery, then it's your voltage regulator for the batt charging
