The actual BIOS file posted on the Gateway site for that model is the incorrect file WARNING....It is actually the Firmware Update for the DVD Player...Bad part is it will update if you force it and override the bad checksum feature in the BIOS Update process. I know, I am currently attemptiing to locate the proper file after incorrect updating by another "professional" tech service that wasn't so professional and didn't realize the Gateway site's mistake myself.
The on-board battery may be bad-try replacing it.
