Cause:This issue can be caused by any of the below situations.
\015\012 \015\012
  1. New hardware conflicting with old hardware.
  2. \015\012
  3. Bad or failing hardware device.
  4. \015\012
  5. Connections not connected or connected properly.
  6. \015\012
  7. Recent electrical storm that caused a\015\012\011\011\011\011surge that damaged computer.
  8. \015\012
  9. Other hardware issue.
\015\012 \015\012Answer:Warning: Some of the\015\012 below steps recommend removing physical parts within the\015\012 computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of\015\012 ESD and its potential hazards. Information about ESD and \015\012\011\011\011proper grounding techniques are found on our \015\012\011\011\011ESD help page.
Note:\015\012 Make sure your computer is turning on, if you press the power\015\012 button and nothing happens (no lights, no sound, no fans, etc.) then\015\012 this issue is not a NO POST but is an power related issue see document\015\012 CH000312.\015\012
\015\012Remove new hardware\015\012\011\011\011If any new hardware has been\015\012 recently added to the computer, remove that hardware to make\015\012 sure it is not the cause of your issue. If after removing the\015\012 new hardware your computer works it's likely the computer is\015\012 either not compatible with the new hardware or a system setting\015\012 needs to be changed to work with the new hardware device.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Disconnect external devices\015\012\011\011\011Remove everything from the back of the computer except the power cable.\015\012 Turn on the computer and see if it beeps normally. If the\015\012 computer has never beeped keep the monitor or display connected \015\012\011\011\011to see if any change occurs.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Identify beep code\015\012\011\011\011If you are receiving a sequence of beeps\015\012 see our beep code page for a listing\015\012 of different beep codes and their explanation and/or your\015\012 motherboard or computer documentation. These beep codes are\015\012 meant as a method of quickly identifying what computer component\015\012 is failing or bad.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Check all fans\015\012\011\011\011Make sure all fans are running in\015\012 the computer. If a fan has failed (especially the \015\012\011\011\011heat\015\012 sink fan for the CPU) your computer could be overheating\015\012 and/or detecting the fan failure causing the computer not to\015\012 boot.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Check all cables\015\012\011\011\011Verify that all the cables are properly connected at \015\012\011\011\011that there are no loose cables by firmly pressing in each cable.
  • \015\012\011\011\011\011All disk drives should have a data cable and \015\012\011\011\011\011power cable connected to them.\015\012\011\011\011
  • \015\012
  • \015\012\011\011\011Your power supply should have at least one cable \015\012\011\011\011going to the motherboard. Many motherboards may also have additional \015\012\011\011\011cables connected to them to supply power to the fans.\015\012\011\011\011
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Disconnect all expansion cards\015\012\011\011\011If the above recommendations still\015\012 have not resolved the irregular POST attempt to disconnect the \015\012\011\011\011Riser board (if applicable) and/or\015\012 each of the expansion cards. If this resolves the issue or allows the computer to post connect one card\015\012 at a time until you determine which card is causing the issue.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Disconnect all drives\015\012\011\011\011If you were unable to determine\015\012 by the beep code what is failing or do not have a beep code\015\012 disconnect the IDE,\015\012\011\011\011SATA,\015\012\011\011\011SCSI, or other data cables from the \015\012\011\011\011CD-ROM, \015\012\011\011\011hard drive, and floppy drive from the \015\012\011\011\011Motherboard.\015\012
\015\012\011\011\011If this resolves your irregular post or you now get \015\012\011\011\011an error message attempt to re-connect each device one at a time to\015\012 determine which device and or cable is causing the issue. \015\012\011\011\011In some situations it can also be simply a loose cable connection \015\012\011\011\011that causes the issue.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Remove the RAM\015\012\011\011\011\015\012\011\011\011\011If you continue to to receive the same problem with all the above hardware removed\015\012 attempt to disconnect the RAM from the \015\012\011\011\011\011Motherboard and turn on the computer. \015\012\011\011\011\011If the computer has a different beep code or if your computer \015\012\011\011\011\011was not beeping and is now beeping turn off your computer and \015\012\011\011\011\011try the below suggestions. Making sure to turn off the computer each \015\012\011\011\011\011time you're adding and removing the memory and then turning the \015\012\011\011\011\011computer back on to see if the suggestion resolves the issue.
  1. Re-insert the memory into the same slot.
  2. \015\012
  3. If you have more than one stick of memory remove all but \015\012\011\011\011\011\011one stick of memory, try rotating through each stick.
  4. \015\012
  5. Try one stick of memory in each slot.
\015\012\011\011\011\011If you're able to get the computer to boot with one or more \015\012\011\011\011\011of the sticks of memory it's likely you're dealing with some bad \015\012\011\011\011\011memory. Try to identify which stick of memory is bad and replace \015\012\011\011\011\011it.
\015\012\011\011\011\011If you're able to get memory to work in one slot but not \015\012\011\011\011\011another slot. You're motherboard is defective you can either \015\012\011\011\011\011workaround the issue by running the memory in a different slot \015\012\011\011\011\011or replace the motherboard.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Power cycle the computer\015\012\011\011\011In some situations a computer may have power related \015\012\011\011\011issues often caused by either the power supply and/or the \015\012\011\011\011motherboard. To help determine if this is the cause of your issue \015\012\011\011\011try turning the computer on, off, and back on as fast as possible, \015\012\011\011\011making sure the computer power light goes on and off each time. In \015\012\011\011\011some situations you may be able to temporarily get the computer to \015\012\011\011\011boot.
\015\012\011\011\011This should only be used as a temporary workaround if \015\012\011\011\011you're able to get this to work. Often this is good for users who \015\012\011\011\011may have not done a backup and need to get the computer up one more \015\012\011\011\011time to copy files before starting to replace hardware.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Disconnect and reconnect the CPU\015\012\011\011\011\015\012\011\011\011\011For users who are more comfortable working with the inside of \015\012\011\011\011\011their computer or who have built their computer one last \015\012\011\011\011\011recommendation before assuming hardware is bad is to reseat the\015\012\011\011\011\011CPU by removing it and putting \015\012\011\011\011\011it back into the computer.
\015\012\011\011\011\015\012\011\011\011\015\012Bad motherboard, CPU, RAM, and/or power supply\015\012\011\011\011If after doing all of the above recommendations\015\012 you continue to have the same issue unfortunately it is likely\015\012 that you have bad Motherboard, CPU, and or RAM. The next step\015\012 would be either to replace these components and/or have the\015\012 computer serviced. If you plan on doing the repairs yourself or\015\012 you are a repair shop it is suggested that you replace the\015\012 Motherboard first, RAM, CPU, and then power supply in that order and/or\015\012 try swappable parts from other computers.
