When I connect the Hotdive 2.5 Sata ext inclosure with WD 250 Gb HDD, the R/W LED is a constant red. The drive icon is not recognized in either COMPUTER or DEVICE MANAGER.

If I may offer an alternative procedure:

  • physically remove the WD 250 Gb SATA HDD from the Hotdive 2.5 SATA ext enclosure, connect it directly to a free SATA port of a desktop PC;
  • \015\012
  • borrow a spare SATA HDD and try it on the Hotdive 2.5 SATA ext enclosure. You could even try your laptop's own HDD (if SATA).
Both procedures would determine which is at fault, the enclosure or the 250HDD.
