Having problems with your PC Desktops ?

My PC stopped booting up yesterday. When turning it on, you can hear everything powering up (fans working, hd's going, lights on case and mobo etc) - but after 3-6 seconds it turns itself off. After checking all power connections, and trial and error - I established that by removing my GTX 7800 graphics PCI-E card - the system powers up correctly (although i obviously can't see whats going on). When putting the card back in and starting up - the same thing happens and it shuts down almost

Greetings My name is Mark and I will be glad to assist you. The problem you are having is the compatibility of the Video card and the amount of high memory you have installed. Go back to when the problem started, (new software hardware,Etc,) If this is not the issue you have a card failure and it needs to be replaced. By installing a video card it will use high ram memory in most cases with a graphics card the processor needs to be of greater speed then then video card it is looking at. The key is to maximize you ram and make sure you have proper ventilation for the ram as well as the video card. Heat will cause failure and slow performance. Take care

If your motherboard supports SLI, you can most likely eliminate the port the video card is plugged into by plugging it into a different port. Based on my experience the most likely cause is the video card, especially since there are probably other components on the board that share the same bus as the video card. Look carefully however at the pins on the card. I had a "remanufactured" motherboard fry two ram chips and a video card the first time i turned it on.
