Adding memory to a a75-s211

\015 I purchased a 1gb ram upgrade for my notebook, in the specifications it says 1.5gb max. when i opened the back i only had one slot with a 256mb card in the slot...if i have to remove the 256mb card and install the 1gb card how does that equal 1.5gb?\015

Answers :

How much memory did it have before you removed the 256Mb RAM?
\015\012If it had 756Mb RAM then the memory in the laptop has 512 Mb plus 256 Mb RAM modules, the 256Mb in the slot you can see and possibly 512Mb in a slot under the keyboard or soldered on the motherboard.
\015\012Therefore by removing the 256Mb and replacing with 1Gb memory module will give you a total of 1.5Gb
Toshiba Satellite A75-S211 has 256MB onboard memory. The maximum amount of memory this model can accept is 1280MB, so you can install 1GB PC2700 DDR333 memory stick into the slot on the bottom of the laptop. I suspect that the ram in that slot is bad and is not being used at this time
