Having problems with your Toshiba PC Laptops ?

Toshiba Satellite charging problem.

\015 I have a Toshiba Satellite A205. I have had it for about a year and a half, I believe. For a while the charger was working fine but every once in a while I would have to shake it around to get it to keep charging. Now, it is completely dead. Even when I plug in the charger the computer does not charge up or respond at all. Is there any way for me to find out if it is the cord or the computer? Any help would be great, thank you.\015

Answers :

Since you used to have to shake the computer to get it to work, my first guess would be that the power connector inside the laptop has became loose. Unfortunately this can be very difficult to repair. It usually requires completely disassembling the laptop and resoldering the connector.

However, if you can find someone with a laptop that takes the same charger - or if you can find a PC repair shop that has one they will let you test with - you can test it that way.
This sounds like the power connection on the motherboard, I have fixed a few of these, you have to be very careful when re-soldering stuff back to the motherboard, but it can be done. But as derek mentioned try to find someone who has a similar laptop and try using their power adapter to weed out possibilities.
