Having problems with your Sony VAIO VGN-S460 Notebook ?

Sound is garbled. Slow to almost a stop. Hard drive overworking and fan constantly running

Answers :

A program or few programs are using a lot of your computers resources. What I would recommend you do, is first back up your files from the computer if you have anything important there, into a external usb drive. Then use the recovery discs or windows installation cd/dvd to perform a fresh install of windows, that will get rid of the slowness. If you install from a normal windows cd/dvd some of the device drivers might not be installed. you will have to download and install software for them from the sony website.-- http://b2b.sony.com/b2bMicrosites/landingpage/vaio_drivers/download_vaio_drivers.html

Too slow We bought our computar about 2 years ago and it is really slow. There seems to be plenty of space left on the C-drive but the D-drive is almost full. There are also a lot of program always running when I check the task manager but I don't know how to stop them or what I need and don't need. Should I get more memory? Or try to delete things? I don't want to get a new computar because the one we have isn't that old and it works fine otherwise.
