Having problems with your Sony VAIO VGN-FS742/W Notebook ?

Keeps resetting to the wrong time and date

\015 This is on a Sony Vaio laptop and I was told by Sony that I need to replace the CMOS battery. However, it's done this since the day we took it out of the box. We got a great deal on it and our daughter has used it for basic stuff with no problem. Now she's getting a little older and it's causing problems with security certificates etc that she needs to use the thing. So... \015\012\015\012Is there any way (other than replacing it) to confirm if the battery is bad?\015\012What else might cause this issue?\015\012\015\012Thanks\015

Answers :

You can actually log into the BIOS and set the date abd time to the correct info. Then turn machine off, and power back on, and re-enter the BIOS, if the date/Time is wrong, it's the CMOS battery, If you remove it, (usually a #CR-22 I Believe) and take it to the watch department at walmart, you can replace for under $5.00.
\015\012Thanks for the feedback if any.
It is always is. CMOS battery for replacement.
