Cpu fan malfunction

\015 Hi guys,sure could use some help. my sony vaio pcg R505eL cpu fan seems to be malfunctioning(as it isnt running all the time anymore) i wanted to clean it up, but just couldnt find a way to take it out of the laptp, any ideas? i also wanted to put some oil on it(the reason why i really wanted to pry it out)\015

Hello Chris....i highly recommend you dont "pry" on anything and it have it serviced by a qualified tech. The vaio incorporates the heatsink and fan as a unit, It's a 2 wire fan that is temp. controled from 5v and up. You can take a vacuum and place at the ventilation opening and remove some of the dirt & dust that has accumulated inside, this will help. The cost is around 100 buxs for a new fan & sink...Sony part # 1-763-483-12. Attached is a pic of the unit..; Also note: a depleted battery will effect fan operation as well.
