Laptop keyboard and touchpad disabled

\015 I have a lg lgf1 laptop and the touch pad and mouse do not work at all and there is no settings anywhere on the computer to change them they dont exist on the computer apart from physically being there, im quite good with computers so this has me puzzled, could it be anything else except missing or corrupt drivers?\015

Answers :

The settings can be found in the control panel under Pen and input devices,(You may have to change from or to classic view)But it could also be a driver issue or a hardware issue.
Has this been solved fully? Did you recently reinstall windows, was it something that came with the computer, or is it your own copy?

Most major system builders(national/international brands) have proprietary OS and hardware builds, usually requiring their recovery software to get you fully functional. Otherwise there could be a lot of headaches(this is one reason i build my own). Sometimes you can install your own base OS (ie - retail windows xp), get the drivers, and be fine. But sometimes not all the drivers you need are always readily available. I've seen this a lot in the past with Sony VAIO and Dell computers, HP has also been notoriously proprietary.

At any rate, just some friendly advice, to you and anyone that may stumble across this.

If you start having problems with any sort of peripheral devices or hardware in general, the first place you want to start is with drivers. The first place you should look is the manufacturers website in their help and support sections. Most of the time they'll have the drivers you need. If your system is an older model, somewhere between 3-5+ years, then the system builder might cut support outside of their knowledge base. And a couple years after that knowledge base information gets phased out as well.
