Having problems with your MSI GX630-028US Notebook ?

Hard drive spins, but computer and screen don't boot

\015 Okay, so for a while now I've had troubles with the laptop freezing during graphics-intensive programs (games, photoshop etc.), and for about a week before the rig went kaput I had trouble with booting (sometimes it would freeze during the process and it would take two or three tries to finally boot all the way). I figured it was just overheating, so I bought an external fan (didn't share a power supply with the laptop). Finally, my LCD screen cracked (unrelated incident) and after I got it replaced, the laptop ran for about half an hour before freezing again. After I shut it off, it wouldn't boot up again. The power button and plug-in lights come on, the hard drive starts spinning, but nothing comes on the screen (not even the backlight). Hooking it up to an external monitor did nothing. I figure this had something to do with the graphics card, so I sent it in to a third-party repair shop (the warranty was gone by this time), and nothing they tried would bring it up. They figured that it was stuck in hibernation mode, but they couldn't get it out. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the card or (god forbid) the motherboard?\015

That why they are a third party shop because i would have check the hard drive first because when your computer boots up it checks your hard drive for the boot code after it find the code that when your screen comes on! then i will take out the battery on the board to reset the bios! sometime it can bad! also if the fan over your processor is not working then it will cut off because it gets to hot! the best way to check your hard drive is to reinstall your os to see if it work because if you got a bad hard drive you will know it!

\015\012I am not sure if I have a solutions more so than a suggestion. I have done many notebook repairs and one thing that I make sure my techs do is NOT to shock the motherboard (Static, ESD) A simple shock can destroy the video, sound, wireless, and even the hard drive controller. I would check with the company that replaced your LCD and ask if they had trouble with your notebook after the install. Minus the LCD, my first guess would have been to upgrade your memory (maybe), defrag your hard drive and test parts on a good pc. Worst case: replace the motherboard or replace the notebook.
