Strange problems with Z-2300's

\015 Hello.I just got a Z-2300 system. It's factory-refurbished but is supposed to be 100% working. Anyway, when i went to listen to some music (I use Winamp), the speakers acted strange. The system powered on, the light on the remote pod lights up, but the system seems to only be operating at 40% power, plus there was almost no sound coming from the left speaker. I turned the computer's volume (my computer is an HP Pavilion Dv6000 notebook, the operating system is Vista Premium) to 100%, and Winamp's volume to 100% with no major effect. It got a little louder, but nowhere near normal. I checked the RCA connections (yellow to yellow, black to black), jiggled the wires, checked for bad connections, but everything was fine. The balance was also centered.I switched the connections to see if it was a bad speaker, and the left speaker worked in the right RCA jack, but not the left jack. I restarted my computer, and tried again with Winamp, and this time the left speaker was working, but the volume problem was still there.I know it's not a bad connection to my computer (I plugged these into the 3.5mm jack), because a different set of speakers works fine. I tried using just the computer's sounds (no media players or music), and interestingly, the right speaker worked fine, but the left was still very quiet. I checked the sound card and tested the output, and it's the same story, a normal right speaker and a flat left speaker. There is some sound coming out of it, though, if the right is at 100%, the left is maybe 25%. Finally, I tried using a different media player than Winamp. I used Windows Media Player, and it was the same; 100% out of the subwoofer and right speaker, but the left was flat, you couldn't even tell if it was working, which doesn't make sense because it worked (kind of) both without any media player and on Winamp. The computer's speakers work fine, the remote pod works fine, the subwoofer works and the right speaker works, but not the left. They both work with Winamp, but the volume is very low, even when everything's at 100% (computer, Winamp, speakers). I've tried everything short of taking them apart and fiddling with the guts. My only guess is a bad amplifier or a bad RCA jack. I don't see how the amp is bad though, since the system works fine, except for the left channel. Anyone else have this problem? I'd appreciate any help/suggestions! ThanksNick\015

I'm having this same problem and have sort of solved it with a really wierd technique I found at Logitech. Evidently this problem is related to the control pod rather then the RCA jack. Try this:

\015\012Unplug the control pod from the subwoofer\015\012Turn off the main switch\015\012Turn the volume knob one full turn, tap the knob\015\012Repeat again (2 times)\015\012Replug the control pod\015\012Turn on the main switch and the control pod\015\012See what happens

I found that this got the speaker working finicky after it was almost totally useless. It seems to be cutting out randomly, but fidgeting with the control pod or it's connector jack fixes it. No clue what the deal is here, but your problem is identical to mine so take some time to screw around with these components with music running so you can hear if it suddenly works.
