Having problems with your IBM x3400 Server ?

The server is very loud all 3 fans come up at full speed

Answers :

Let's back up a sec. IBM servers normally come up with all fans at full speed on power on. This is normal behaviour. If the fans STAY at full speed, then that's a problem. If they quiet down after a few seconds, there is nothing to be done.

My Dell Dimension E510 is making a "whirring" noise. It whirls loudly when I turn it on, like something inside is struggling to get up to speed. The computer takes more time than usual to become operable and open programs. Then with the computer on, the "whirring" comes and goes, it is more quite, but more uneven. Sounds like it's going fast sometimes, then speeds up and back and forth. I've opened the computer and cleaned the dust out of it. That didn't help. HELP. VHS
