Having problems with your IBM ThinkPad 570E Notebook ?

My IBM screen goes dark after being on for several hours. It will return to normal, and then go dark again. Could this be the HDD is getting too hot? Is there a way to increase the fan speed?

Answers :

Check the energy save settings and see if the monitor is set to shut off after a certain amount of time. Also if the laptop battery gets low it may start to turn off the monitor to save energy. Are you using the computer on a/c power or battery power when this happens? As far as fan controls the settings are usually in the bios but you can sometimes install software that will control the system fan. The BIOS system menu is usually available by pressing delete when the computer boots up(some computers are different button).

My hard drive has been making a clicking noise for a while, the computer freezes up at times, I do not think the cooling fan is working, could this cause the issue with the hard drive making noise, and if I replace the cooling fan should that take care of the noisy hard drive ?
