Thinkpad T61 Battery Problem

\015 My Thinkpad T61's battery has been having shorter and shorter life. It will say 1 hr 30 minutes left and be fine, then all of a sudden the laptop will shut down due to low battery. When I just got it, it wouldn't shut down until it had like 20 minutes left. Is there anything I can do besides replacing the battery?\015

Answers :

It is the same situation as what faced in the past few weeks! My battery has been used for years!
\015\012Generally speaking, our laptop battery also has its deadline for 1 year. After using it over the battery for 1 years, it will drop to about 60-70 percents of its capacity.
\015\012From what you said in the above, I think your battery might be damaged for being unreasonable used.
\015\012I suggest that you you should buy the new, and i have good websites for you: take a look if interested:

Your battery may suffer from'memory-effect'
due to overcharging several times.

boot up as usual, switch laptop to standby-mode
and let it switched on until it shuts down automatically.
this will help to drain the battery to a very low level.
recharge battery until full capacity while laptop is still shut off, boot and measure time until it switches off again.
You may have increased battery capacity this way a bit! If this does not help, get a new one with a better capacity and remove battery when your using laptop at home for a longer time(this will prevent future overcharging), rely an ac/dc adaptor instead, laptop will funtion anyway.
