White lines on monitor and won't boot up

\015 I have changed my L90D from my PC to my MAC and it comes on and says no signal when just connected to the power cord but when I connect it to the MAC the apple comes up and it then puts lines across it in 2 large spaces and the working circle just keeps going around and it won't come up to the computer screen.....What can I do to get it connected right.I am of medium computer smarts so please explain it simply step by step.Thank YouBeverly Moore\015

Answers :

It should be pretty straight forward when hooking up your new monitor to the PC. You should be able to plug it in and it work. If you have any problems start a new post as to what your new monitor is doing when you hooked it to your Mac.

Hi there
Read this:
\015\012Using an external display with a MacBook\011\011\011\011\011\011\011Hereare some tips for using a MacBook or MacBook Pro with an externalmonitor.
\015\012
    \015\012
  1. When you connect an external monitor to your MacBook (orPowerBook, for that matter), you can combine your MacBook's LCD andyour external monitor to create one big monitor. That means when yourmouse pointer goes off the edge of one, it will appear on the other.Open the Displays Preference Pane to configure the resolution andorientation of the two monitors. This type of configuration works wellwhen you want to keep your main work on your larger external display, but still keep things like IM, iTunes, and email constantly visible onthe smaller laptop LCD.
  2. \015\012
  3. Some windows act like they don'twant to be dragged on to your external monitor. If a windows is beingstubborn, try dragging it up to the menu bar, and keep dragging, evenif stays stuck below the menu bar. Sometimes once you have dragged itfar enough that it has room to render the entire window, it will jumpto the other monitor (Terminal used to have this problem, but Applefixed it some time ago). If that doesn't work, try dragging it from acorner of your monitor. My Adiumcontact list doesn't seem to want to live on my external monitor, but Ican coerce it up there by dragging up from either corner.
  4. \015\012
  5. Whenyour laptop is open, you can't switch to using the full resolution ofan external monitor. I have no idea why, but it's a fact of life forMacBook users. You can use both displays in "extended" mode, or you canmirror your MacBook's display (which most likely doesn't use the fullresolution of your external monitor), but you can't switch to usingonly the external monitor. Very strange.
  6. \015\012
  7. If you close yourlaptop, you can actually get the full resolution of your externaldisplay. Put your MacBook to sleep, connect your external display andan external monitor, and wake the computer up by pressing any key. Youwill have full use of your external display while your laptop is closed.
  8. \015\012
  9. Ifyou really want to have your MacBook open while only using an externaldisplay, after following the procedure above, you can open yourMacBook, and it's screen will remain off, which means you can still usethe MacBook's keyboard and trackpad. Why you can't get into this modeusing F7, I have no idea. This is a good technique for allowing someheat to dissipate while still using an external display so the lid ofyour MacBook doesn't melt or warp.
  10. \015\012
  11. You can boot yourcomputer using just an external display. Just connect your externaldisplay, open the lid, hit the power button, and close the lid againimmediately.
  12. \015\012
  13. In order to output only to an externalmonitor, you have to have the power cable connected. I tried forseveral minutes yesterday to get my MacBook to wake up with an externalkeyboard and monitor before unpacking my AC adapter from my backpack, and it wouldn't work. It took me a while to make the connection (no punintended), but I eventually discovered that with the power cableattached, everything works as expected.
And now for some other random tips:
\015\012
    \015\012
  1. If you decide to buy the MacBook over the MacBook Pro (Iactually like the MacBook slightly better, but that's a topic foranother post), don't forget to buy a mini-DVI to standard DVI adapter. The MacBooks don't have standard DVI port -- just the mini.
  2. \015\012
  3. Ifyou have a DVI to VGA adapter, stop reading this right now, go find it,and put it in your computer bag where it should be stored. You'll thankme the next time you're in front of a client or an audience, trying tomash a VGA cable into a DVI port.
  4. \015\012
  5. For the ultimate in multiple-display, multi-computer support, check out Synergy.Synergy actually lets you switch between different computers runningdifferent operating systems simply by moving your mouse from onemonitor to the next. The first time you see it, you'll swear it'smagic. Imagine two separate physical computers next to each other withtwo monitors, one keyboard, and one mouse. Just move the pointer fromone monitor to the other, and you're actually using the other computer. It even let's you copy and paste between computers. If you're a Macuser running Parallels, you might not see the point, but you still haveto appreciate the technical wizardry.
Good luck and i hopes this helps
