Having problems with your HP PC Desktops ?

I have an HP Pavilion 6000. The other day while I was on it the screen went blank then it tried to reboot. I get an error message PXE-E61 media test failure check cable. It continues to try to boot up but the message always comes up until you turn the thing off. I have gone online to try and find out what's wrong. I get different answers. MB, OS, hard drive. I have a lot of stuff on my hard drive I'd like to keep. I did a backup a month ago but hadn't done one since. Please help. I want my compu


Answers :

The first thing to try is disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to your hard drive. HP claims they have no "Pavilion 6000", so I can't point you to a manual for your computer. The HP Site has links to many manuals. If you are not comfortable about opening your PC and moving cables around, take it to a PC tech. Odds are good your data is safe.

If it still will not boot after reconnecting the cables the next step is reseat all the components you can and then flash the BIOS. Post back with an updated model number and I can walk you through that too if needed.
