Dead HP zv6000 Won't Start at all

\015 Hi there, Everyone:I have a dead HP zv6000 notebook. I tried FIXING a noisy CPU fan last night, and when I put it back together it won't boot up.The power light comes on and the fans start whirring, and the DVD light in the very front comes on for a few seconds, and then goes out.I don't hear the hard drive seeking / spinning, and there is NOTHING on the screen (completely dark). I don't hear any beeps when I power on, either. There is a good chance I screwed up the keyboard ribbon / ziff connection when I tried to put the keyboard ribbon back in.Any suggestions on how to diagnose / repair this would be greatly appreciated.Alternatively, since I don't really like this machine all that much, if anyone knows a way to get the data off the hard drive inexpesnively, that would be great too. Is there an external USB case I can buy and plug the hard drive into so that I can use it as an external drive? Thanks in advance\015

Answers :

Okay the first thing you want to do is disassemble it again and make sure all your connectors are connected. Even if you damaged the keyboard cable, the computer should still boot up at least to a keyboard error screen. Make sure the RAM is seated correctly and everything is tight. It is possible that you damaged something (motherboard) as these things are extremely sensitive but hopefully you just have a loose cable somewhere.

If you need the data off the disk, a external USB case would work, or you can just get a USB adapter, without a case it may be cheaper. You can get a multiple one that will connect to IDE or SATA 3.5 or 2.5 drives for around $20 or so.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.
