Having problems with your HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook ?

TOUCHPAD How do I disable the touch pad? I use a mouse and everytime my hand goes over the touchpad the cursor moves I have the same problem, but I want to use my mouse, I don't want to use an extra thing, I just want to disable the click function from it and use the the bottons under it. I have a HP pavillion dv6000. Macs have this function, how can I disable only the clicking from my touchpath?

Hey, keep in mind that sometimes when drivers are not loaded for the touchpad it lists as a mouse. if the driver is loaded you can usually goto it's icon and there is an option to disable touchpad. if the mfr's driver's arent loaded, then windows would've loaded some default drivers. you need to disable these by going into device manager, mouse and other pointing devices. then you must determine which one is your plugged in mouse (usually the usb) and which one is the touchpad mouse (it will often lists as 'ps2 mouse', 'standard mouse', or 'standard pointing device', or some other confusing description. locate it and right click and choose disable. this should do it.

\015\012 if it doesn't allow you you then would need a more extensive workaround which involves installing the wrong drivers for the device leaving it in a malfunctioned state so that windows would allow you to disable it. read more here :

Go to control panel = mouse pointer = look for the pointing device, maybe its called synaptics pointing device on you too then you can unchecked the buttons and even the whole device itself from it.

Touchpad Sensitivity I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. When typing the cursor jumps around to places I don't want it to go. I figure it's a result of hitting the touchpad with my palm or thumb. I want to turn the touchpad off as I use a mouse, but when I go to Mouse in control panel there is no tab for the touchpad. I get 4 tab options: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options and Hardware. any thoughts on where the touchpad settings are? Is this a result of having installed software for a Logitech

Elimnate mouse In my HP Pavilion 1000 Notebook, there is a little "pad" used instead of a mouse. 1. How is it called, both in english and spanish? (If I knew the names, maybe I could find some information on it.) 2. This pad can be used as a click. I would like to disable the click, (not the "pad"), because I often, accidentally, "enter" when I don't want to; when all I want to do is move the cursor. How do I disable it, and still keep using the pad as a mouse? Deeply greatful, thank you, Elizab
