Very dim screen on dv1000

\015 I have a dv1000 that on startup loads windows fine and i can log in!!!problem is that i have to point the screen just right into the light so i can actually see whats happening.screen is very dim n have tried the brightness to no avail.i am wondering what replacement part i need and how to replace it?\015

Sounds like the backlite is out you will need a new lcd
\015\012pull off keyboard and palm rest unplug lcd wires and then pull front lcd benzel unscrew lcd and replace be careful on lcd benzel there should be screws under the little rubber bumpers
\015\012Always remember if it doesnt unsnap easy look for a hidden screw never pry hard
