HP pavillon dv1000 keeps hibernating

\015 I have a HP Pavillon dv1000 laptop which has been working fine for a couple of years. Suddenly since the last couple of days, it has started initiating hibernating and then hibernates. I initially thought that it was a battery problem, but even if I run it on AC mains, it hibernates after a random period of time.I disabled the hibernate option under the power management, so it has now started to go into stand by. Any help would be appreciated\015
