Having problems with your Gateway PC Laptops ?

My gateway MT6728 laptop is not working at all, when I turn it on the screen kepts off, can't hear nothing (only a cooling fan) and basicaly can't do anything

Answers :

The cooling fan spinning is a good sign. Your laptop might still be functional.

First, try taking the battery out. Then press the power button 10 times and on the 10th time hold it down for 10 seconds. This will purge any remaining power in the laptop.

Put the battery back in its place and attempt to turn the laptop on. Observe the behavior.

If the problem still exists, your video card might be malfunctioning or the inverter (monitor's power source) might have gone bad.

Try hooking up the laptop to an external monitor, if an image is displayed, it's most likely the inverter.

You can take the laptop to a repair shop to get it fixed.

My mother has a dell dimension 8200 and it wont turn on. my step-father said he took one of her fans for his computer (they're seperated) but i dont know which one. I want to replace it, but i dont know what fan he took, and she lives in another state, so I cant look at it, would it be the cooling fan? or is there another fan that would keep it from running?
