AMBER LIGHT ON?

\015 It appears to be in sleep mode with amber light on. I thought it was the power supply and I replaced the power supply but it still will not power on with the amber light on.\015

Answers :

The Dell GX620 as well as SX270/280 computers are a few models of many \012that suffered from Faulty Capacitors on the motherboard which regulate \012power supply. When they totally fail, about 4-6 of them on the board, \012the power light will be orange and the system will not post. Other \012systems also include reaching a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) before \012Windows loads, or even random BSODs while running windows.
\012
\012 IF you have\012 decent soldering skills, you can order capacitors from badcaps.net and \012replace the 2200uF 6.3v caps on the board and the system will start \012fine.
\012
\012I have done about 40+ such repairs can confirm with 90% confidence this \012is the cause of your orange power light and non-booting issues.
Can you try this? unplug the pc, hold down the power switch until the amber light goes off, then (with the pc still unplugged) push the power button to see if the amber light comes back on, if it does, repeat the first step. do this until no light comes on when the power button is pushed. after you've done this. plug the pc back up, then hit the power button. what happens?

ive had this happen to a lot of my dell pc's here at work, but all i can figure out is that its a mobo problem, i also have tried swapping PSU's, but it didnt help.
