\015 The monitor just goes out. It displays vertical lines. I've been told it's a bad motherboard please help\015

Answers :

Vertical lines can mean either a connector problem on the lcd itself or on the motherboard connector or a problem with video ram or the chip. Unfortunately none of those are cheap or easy to fix. You can try an external monitor and if that displays normally then the problem is connector or lcd. You can sometimes find a replacement display at fair prices so if that is it then it might be worth fixing. If it is the motherboard then the repair can cost as much as a new replacement laptop.

I turned on my computer two days ago and the screen was so skewed on the horizontal that I was unable to view the clock on the tool bar and the start program button at the same time. I have tried to adjust this by using the horizontal and vertical buttons. Moving the screen with the vertical button is not a problem, it works. Unfortunately nothing seems to happen when I use the horizontal button. The picture remains the same. I am wondering if the monotor is on its last legs?
