My gateway Mx6920 is overheated

\015 Went turn on my laptop the fan is working for few minutes only, after that my hand also are overheated\015

First off you should know that laptop fans have three speeds high, low, and off. When you first turn a laptop on it will start on high/low (depending on brand) and after a short time will turn off, it may not turn on again for a while. i have had some that will not make it to the desktop without the fan and i had on that was running for several month straight without the fan plugged in (i don't recommend doing this, it was a mistake burned it, reached 70 degrees C).
\015\012I would like you to first download Speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan437.exe and install it. once installed leave your computer completely off for at least 1 hour. then turn on your computer and once you get to the desktop run speed fan make note of the temps. leave this opened and now use you computer normally for a little bit then come back to speed fan after a while and make note of those temps. once you have done this if you post them in a reply so i can verify if the fan is bad or if it is something else.

CPU overheating I was wondering if anyone knew about any cpu overheating problems with the gateway MT3422. I have read several articles on this issue, and wonder if this may be my problem. I noticed that the laptop does get really hot, even with a cooling unit underneath it. The computer is now not wanting to turn on after restarting due to recent updates. I get a power light on after pushing the button a few times, no other lights are on, the CPU fans does turn on and the cd rom does spin. F 12
