Answers :

I can't find one either. Means to me, that Gateway really doesn't want anyone but an authorized dealer, or authorized shop to do this.

However, I can give you generic info, and perhaps this might help.
I repair laptops. Haven't had the 'fortune' to repair that many Gateway's. (Maybe this is a good thing, right?)

Access to the cooling fan is either down from the top, or up from the bottom. (Yeah, I know. Duh! Read on)
SOMETIMES, you can remove a few screws, and access a panel on the bottom for the cooling tube/heatsink, and fan assembly.

If so for yours, I suspect you would have seen this already, and wouldn't be posting a question on here.

Accessing a cooling fan from the top.
First remove the AC adapter, (Charger), if plugged in. Remove the battery. I advise at this point to buy a cheap ESD wrist strap, (Radio Shack has 'em), and connect the alligator clip to a good ground source. (The metal frame of an unplugged desktop computer would do nicely)

There is a plastic strip above the keyboard. It's right below the LCD screen. There may be speakers in it, and usually there are LED lights.
This plastic strip pops up. It has tabs that go along the bottom edge, and the plastic strip just snaps into place, because of these tabs. One uses a flat tip jewelers screwdriver, eases it down into where the edge of the strip meets the body of the laptop, and pops it up. (Pops up with a sickening sound. 'Crack' You'll think you have broken it. You could drive a truck over that plastic part!)

After you have one small place started, you work around the edge, until coming to the last, the strip pops out.
This may give you a little better description/view of what I'm talking about. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M105/take-apart-notebook-1.htm (At the bottom of the page you will see Page1 :: Page2 :: Page3 :: Page4 :: Find another model Click on Page 2: Go to Step 9)
Another one, http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-X205/take-apart-laptop-1.htm (Step 7)

There may be wires to this strip, (Speaker and/or LED lights)
If so, you will see small connectors on the wires. These are male/female connectors, and you can take your fingernails and ease them apart. The connectors have different sizes, and pins. There is no mixing them up, when it's time to reassemble.

You should now see a screw, or screw that hold the keyboard in place. Remove them. I use an emply clean egg carton. I label each egg holder, for where the screws came out of. (Pretty 'Techie', huh? lol! NOT!)

The keyboard lifts up at an angle, and is removed at a 45 degree angle, away from you. BEFORE you take it all the way out though, remove the connecting wire harness!

Now you should see a metal shield. This is removed.
You should be at the area now, where you can see the cooling tube/heatsink/fan combo.

A super easy fix would be buying a laptop mat that has built-in fans to help cool your laptop.
