Having problems with your Gateway GT5220 PC Desktop ?

Tried to roll back computer wont doit it said system restore turned off by group policy contact. your domain administrator. also tried the restoe disc wont reed it. also desk top said active desktop recovery but cant get it off. this is a gateway windows xp they sent me here

Was your name recorded, when the computer used for the first time?

Then you are the Domain Administrator, or for short - Administrator

This sounds so far, like a 'Scareware Malware' is trying to take over your computer.

I needed to know if you could access Control Panel, because in time, all Administrative functions are taken over by this scareware malware.

No access to the main user account, which is the Administrator account, also.
No access to any administrator functions, such as Control Panel, Task Manager, and Windows Explorer.
(Not to be confused with Internet Explorer)

The scareware malware doesn't want you to remove it, hence the block on Administrator functions.

How did you try to access System Restore?
Did you try to access the long way, or through Control Panel?

(Long way:
Start>All Programs>Up to Accessories>Over and down to System Tools>Over and down to System Restore.

Control Panel access:
Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System Restore on the upper left )

When trying to access System Restore. Did the System Restore window come up?
If it does, try clicking on - System Restore Settings, that is underlined at the bottom of the paragraph.

In the Settings window see if - Turn off System Restore, has the box checked next to it. If so, click on the box to remove the green arrow.
Now click on Apply at the bottom right corner, then click on OK, at the bottom left corner of the Settings window.

No access to the System Restore window?

Then I suggest it's time to download the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and kick some booty.

The rogue scareware malware that I'm referencing to, first came out as MS Antivirus.

Has subsequently changed it's name through the years.

The Malwarebytes program only runs when you turn it on.
Pros: Doesn't bog down your computer

Cons: You have to remember to run a scan at a regularly scheduled time, to your preference.

If upon installing the Malwarebytes CD into your optical drive, (CD/DVD drive) does not start automatically, let me know.

One way is to go to Start>My Computer, and double-click on the optical drive name the CD is in.

The other way we will proceed to get more technical, and go into the BIOS Setup utility.
There I will have you go to Boot Options, and change the first boot device to CDROM.
