Benq FP937s Monitor - no display

\015 When booting up the PC, the monitor (having been on standby mode)LED changes from yellow to green, the monitor flashes the boot screen for less than a second then goes blank, but LED stays green. I have tried with both DVI-D and D-sub connectors with same result. I have tried booting with another monitor and all goes well. \015\012So problem is in monitor.\015\012With no comms cable connected I turn monitor on (from off not standby), LED goes straight to green and monitor shows the purple screen with BENQ logo, then shows a message there is no signal, and then goes blank with LED going back to yellow. \015\012I have read with interest that other people have similar symptoms on other versions of this moniotr with suggestions that the backlighting is at fault. However as there are 4 backlights and 4 circuits feeding them I cannot see that all 4 can go at once unless there is a common element. What is the common element that appears to overload and then cut out because clearly the monitor does light the screen for a short period then switch itself off?\015

Usually this type of problem is due to a faulty electrolytic capacitor on the monitor's power supply board or the inverter board that powers the backlight lamps. If you have a soldering iron and some technical skill it's possible to repair this yourself, if you can determine the bad component. Look for a capacitor with a domed top, or what looks like corrosion or leaked fluid on the top. If you replace the capacitor with one of the same rating and type (in volts and microfarads (uf)) it may fix the problem.

\015\012The backlights are usually not the problem in this case, I've fixed dozens of monitors and it has always been a faulty capacitor.
\015\012
\015\012If you are willing to try this, there are lots of resources on the internet that will provide instructions for how to do this. Replacment capacitors can be purchased (usually $0.50 or $1 each) from many electronics suppliers and on eBay.

Hello!
Don't know if you still have the monitor, but maybe this helps someone:

I had exactly the same symptoms.
In my case, the solder points at the power connector were broken. The connector is not tightly fixed and can move a bit. This causes the solder points to break when plugging and unplugging the power cord for a number of times. I unsoldered it, glued the connector to the PCB and resoldered the pins.
The only problem is to get to the PCB, as the two PCBs are mounted in the metal enclosure and the display cable can't easily be unplugged from the PCB. I lifted the metal housing just enough so i could unscrew the PCB with the display cable and unplugged the connector to the power supply board, which is easy to unplug.

Good luck!
