Having problems with your Gateway EV910B Monitor ?

Monitor seizure, (screen expands, goes out, returns to normal).

\015 My 19" seven year old monitor has recently started having the following problem and it is getting progressivly more frequent.\015\012 \015\012It will be working fine, then.....with a clicking sound, the screen expands and darkens a little. At this point I can still click on objects and move the screen. After about 30 seconds (which seems to be getting longer) the monitor turns off, then immediately turns back on and works normally again, often for the remainder of the day, but just as often it will repeat in the same manner. \015\012\015\012When the screen expands I have begun giving the top corner of the monitor a sharp smack with the palm of my hand and this will always made it work OK again. Other than that it's a great working monitor.\015\012\015\012Any help or sugestions will be greatly appreciated.\015\012\015\012Thank you.\015

Canslim, when one of the boards heats up inside it fails, the task is then handed to the backup chipset to get you through your session. The monitor is nicely letting you know its time is almost up. You could take it in to have the boards tested to see which one(s) is failing, but that would cost more than a new one.\015\012\015\012Probably not much different than you were thinking.\015\012\015\012Hope it helped.\015\012\015\012Tim
