Fan won't cool enough, causes random shutdown

\015 Hi, my sister has a Gateway 3250S, s/n: 003477813\015\012\015\012It has both the rear and processor fan, the processor fan runs at about 3700 rpm and the rear at 3200 rpm, both very large fans. For some reason, at random times the computer will just shot off, no error messages, no beeps, just shuts off like over heating.\015\012\015\012The mother board bios has two ways of controlling the fans, one is to power/temp save mode to disabled, making the fans run at top speed non-stop, and making the computer loud as heck. The other is enabled, making the fans run slow at low temp, and high when the temp increases. Both modes cause the random shutdown.\015\012\015\012Makes it very hard to use the computer for much of anything. She just needs it to do random work, documents and such, so this is very inconvinient, and often doesn't allow her to save her work before it shuts down. :(\015\012\015\012I was going to rout the fans power cables directly to the power supply, but they are non-standard 4 pin connectors, with 4 different wires. All the fans i've worked with in the past have had 3 pin connectors and 3 wires.\015\012\015\012Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.\015\012\015\012Thanks for your time.\015

Answers :

Try Speed fan
Yeah, it doesn't sound like over heating problem.
Try to scan HDD for errors with stuff like SpinRite, PC Doctor or PC Check. Also RAM could be the problem.
