Having problems with your Dell Vostro 1510 Notebook ?

Two O.S. When I mean two O.S.s I mean two Windows XP S.P. 2.The good thing is they're not on the same partition.having in view that I have three partitions and the O.S I want to get rid of is on the smallest partition so my question is the following: "Can I delete the partition once and forever (I don't care about the data on it)?I tried to format it but it said :"Windows was unable to complete the format." If the answer to this question is yes please give me detail on how o do it 'cause I'm no

Answers :

Yes you can delete.
Let us assume you have OS in C and D. And wish to remove the OS from D.
\015\012
    \015\012
  • First, boot into the OS that you wish to keep.
  • \015\012
  • Click Start->Run
  • \015\012
  • Type msconfig and press ok.
  • \015\012
  • Go into Boot tab in the window that appears. (If you see edit option, scroll down and read, and come back)
  • \015\012
  • Find an entry that points to D drive and remove it.
  • \015\012
  • Now Format the drive D.
  • \015\012
  • If you get an error formatting drive D, restart your PC with the XP disc in the tray.
  • \015\012
  • Boot from it and go into the recovery console.
  • \015\012
  • Now key in 'format d' without the quotes and hit enter.
  • \015\012
  • Restart and check if everything's alright.

For Boot option
\015\012
    \015\012
  • Click edit
  • \015\012
  • Remove an entry that looks like 'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\\WINDOWS'
    The partition number 2 denotes D drive(starting from C as 1)
  • \015\012
  • Click OK
  • \015\012
  • Restart
Put the windows xp cd into ur dvd writer ...\015\012restart the machine...\015\012then after showing the dell logo...\015\012it will say \015\012"press any key to boot from cd.."\015\012
