Can't insert CD into Dell Studio 17 - ejects!

\015 When I try and insert a CD into my Dell Studio 17, it makes a bad crackling noise, sounds like it's spinning and going through a ratchet, and then ejects the CD. Any ideas please? Thank you.\015

There are small plastic drive gears that respond to the drivebelt. These gears are very fragile and may have come out of syncronization.
Well if it only a few months old I would use the warrenty and have Dell replace it.
